Almy, Mrs. Virginia T., of Saginaw, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Age 88 years. Virginia Schroeder was born on August 4, 1921, in Freeport, Ill. to the late Henry and Clara (Therber) Schroeder. She was married to Clayton Almy on June 22, 1946, in Freeport, Ill. He predeceased her on October 23, 1990. Virginia was employed with Spatz Bakery for four years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and its Braille group, the UAW Senior Citizens, and Carrollton Senior Citizens. Surviving are two sons, Jack (Robyn) Almy, Saginaw; Richard Almy, Birch Run; five grandchildren, Heather (Billy) Simons, Shannon (Gabe) Darnell, Caitlin Almy, Brent (Megan) Almy and Bryan Almy; four great-grandsons, Hayden, Landon, Gavin and Jacob; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Emily. She was predeceased by one brother and one great-grandson, Brandon Frank.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss St. The Rev. Charles F. Buckhahn will officiate with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
