Mrs. Ruth M. Hartley

Hartley, Mrs. Ruth M. Zilwaukee, Michigan Beloved sister, mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the age of 86. Ruth Marie Langschwager was born on June 24, 1931, in Zilwaukee, MI to the late Wesley and Adeline (Schmidt) Langschwager. She married Wesley Hartley on October 25, 1952, and he predeceased her in 2002. The most important things in Ruth’s life were her faith and her family. Ruth (Putz) grew up on her family farm in Zilwaukee, the city where she lived for her entire life. She worked at Draper Chevrolet and Saginaw Wood Products before staying at home with her daughters. Ruth’s faith in Christ showed in every aspect of her life, from being active in her church, to showing kindness toward everyone she met. Anyone who came to visit her home would be offered food until they accepted, even if it was only a piece of peanut butter toast. Ruth was no mere grandma; she was Nunny, to many. She cherished spending time with her 10 o’clock scholar, baking molasses cookies and science experiments with her grandkids. Ruth was always happy to split a piece of pie over a cup coffee, but only half a cup. Now she rejoices in heaven with her Lord! Surviving are her daughters and extra special son (in-law), Hannah (Jeffrey) Driscoll and Holly Hartley; grandchildren, RaeAnne (Steven) Besser, Tyler Driscoll and Jordan Driscoll; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Harrison Besser; sisters and brothers, (Ted) Clarence (June) Langschwager, Judy (Warren) Rutherford, Beverly Langschwager and Eileen Hartley; and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Donald (Judith) Langschwager and Jack Langschwager, Gerald Hartley, Boyd (Dick) Hartley, William (Ruth) Hartley, (Duane) Barbara Morse, and nephew James Langschwager. The Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5250 Mackinaw, Saginaw Twp. The Rev. Homer Mosely, Jr. will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service at Gloria Dei.
