Mrs. Evelyn B. Lubben

Lubben, Mrs. Evelyn B. Lenexa, Kansas Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan Mrs. Lubben was called home to her Lord on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, while in Kansas City for medical treatments. Evelyn passed away at the age of 84 years. Evelyn B. Quast was born on November 4, 1932, in Dent, MN to the late Edward F. and Emma (Golkowski) Quast. Evelyn was married to The Rev. Darrell M. Lubben on July 12, 1952, in Fergus Falls, MN, after 54 years of marriage. Pastor Lubben predeceased her on July 20, 2006. Their union was blessed with five children and their spouses, Debra (Guy) Steiner, Kansas City, KS; Greg (Sandy) Lubben, Saginaw, MI; Alana Birk, Kansas City, KS; Darrell T. (Jamie) Lubben, Kokomo, IN; Darlyn (Joseph) Lawson, Kansas City, KS; 12 grandchildren, Nathaniel (Leah) Theiss; Josh (Amy) Theiss; Candace, Alexis, and Blair Lubben; Ashley Birk; Meghan (Danny) McNulty, Sarah, Jenna, and Spencer Lubben; Caela and Whitney McMillon; eight great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Naomi, Samson, Elijah, Luke, Abby, Grace, Owen; her sister and brother, Ruth (Ed) Dockendorf, St. Cloud, MN, and Donald (Delores) Quast, Saginaw, MI; also three nieces and two nephews; her in-laws, Leone Lubben, Wheaton, MN, Wallace (Margaret) Lubben, Fergus Falls, MN, and Dorothy Lubben, St. Paul, MN. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond and Arnold Quast and her in-laws, Marie (Gilbert) Schmidt, Clara (John) Osterman, Harm Lubben, Albert (Marlyn) Lubben, Walter Lubben, Victor (JoAnn) Lubben, Sylvester “Pete” (Arlene) Lubben, Rev. Lowell Lubben. Mrs. Lubben spent her life in service to her Lord and her family and friends. She gave up her dream of becoming a nurse in support of Pastor Lubben’s ministry and became a beloved preacher’s wife in both Herron, MI and Saginaw, MI. She was actively involved in Bethlehem’s Choir, Ladies’ Aid, Altar Guild, Bethel Study teacher, Evangelism, visits to shut-ins, and Braille. She also enjoyed fun and laughter with her dear friends in her card club of many years. She raised her own children in a Christian and loving home, and also as many as 35 little children of families over the years. We rejoice that she now rests in the loving arms of her Savior and in her heavenly home. She will be dearly missed by all. Mrs. Lubben’s Funeral Celebration will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss, Saginaw. The preacher, Rev. Matthew Peters, and the liturgist, The Rev. Charles F. Buckhahn, will officiate with burial to follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Church on Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and then on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
