H. Kenneth Bartholomew Jr.

Mr. Bartholomew passed away peacefully and walked into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 7, 2019, from Wellspring Lutheran Services in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Age 92 years. Ken was born on December 8, 1926, in Jackson County, Parma, Michigan, to the late H. Kenneth, Sr. and Florence (Robinson) Bartholomew. Seaman First Class, H. Kenneth Bartholomew enlisted in the United States Navy on November 16, 1944, and was honorably discharged on October 20, 1947, having served during WWII. He then was married to Joyce L. Savage on April 18, 1953, having celebrated 66 years together. Prior to his retirement, Ken was employed with Consumers Energy (Consumer Power) for 30 years as a tree trimmer and meter reader. Ken was a member of Immanuel Bible Church, he also was a member of the American Legion Post #150 in Frankenmuth, MI, having served on their Military Honor Guard detail for several years, he then was a past Commander of the V.F.W. Post #9931 in Bridgeport, MI. Ken’s hobbies and pass-times included genealogy, gardening and patriotism. Ken is survived by his wife Joyce; their children, Dennis (Carol) Dashkovitz, Heidi Ann (Mark) Bucholz, Amy Sue (Tyrone) Clarence; their grandchildren, Sara Daldaz, Laura Elizabeth Bucholz, Kenny Mark Bucholz, and Megan Leigh Bucholz; great grandchildren, Michael and Mason Dashkovitz; his brother and wife, David (Rachel) Bartholomew; sister-in-law, Boots Bartholomew; in-laws, Judy Stoneburner, Ellen McNair, Wendy (Ron) Carpenter and Rodney (Mary) Guttowsky; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Ken was also predeceased by his brothers, Philip and Paul Bartholomew, and his grandson Joshua Dashkovitz. The Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the Immanuel Bible Church, 5433 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, Michigan, in Kochville Township. Pastor Mark Hazen will officiate. Ken’s committal will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Naval Military Honors conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy and the V.F.W. Carrollton Post #1859. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Celebration.
