Mrs. Helen L. O'Brien

Helen L. O’Brien Saginaw, Michigan Helen Louise O’Brien, age 90 years, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 26, 2021. She was born in Gilford, Michigan on February 18, 1931, to the late August and Valeria Breitkreitz. Helen was a 1949 graduate of Saginaw High School. She was married to William J. O’Brien, and after 62 years of marriage, Bill predeceased her on March 13, 2017. Helen was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She worked many years for Dr. John Wolfe, retiring in 2003. Helen will be remembered for her strong faith, her kind and gentle spirit, and her love of life. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Helen especially cherished watching her children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. Surviving Helen are three sons and their spouses, Michael (Vanessa) O’Brien, Rockford; James (Elizabeth) O’Brien, Saginaw; Donald (Debra) O’Brien, Saginaw; seven grandchildren: Megan (Adam) North, Caitlin O’Brien, Sean O’Brien, Courtney (Brian) Soule, Christopher Farrell, Michael Gauthier, and Connor O’Brien; five great-granddaughters: Piper and Dylan North, Lacey, Hannah, and Jade Soule. Helen was preceded in death by one son William O’Brien, one sister Hannah Zelmer, and five brothers Julius, Rudy, Carl, Edward, and Fred Breitkreitz. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court Street, Saginaw, Michigan. The Reverend James F. Krueger will officiate. Helen was laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
