John C. Lobsiger

Lobsiger, John C. Fairhope, Alabama Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan John C. Lobsiger, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, after a life well lived. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and stories will be remembered by all who knew him. John built a distinguished career as Chief Manufacturing Engineer for the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors, where he was respected for his leadership, dedication, and engineering expertise. Outside of work, John embraced life to the fullest. He was a very faithful man who was very active in Stephen Ministries, bible studies, and in serving in the church as an elder. John was also very active in the community and truly loved helping others. Throughout his life, John enjoyed playing football, baseball, golf and tennis. He had a passion for sailing, playing bridge, square dancing, and traveling. His favorite trips were to the Holy Land to experience and learn about the life of Jesus and to Switzerland to explore his ancestry. John was a gifted storyteller who never needed a campfire to captivate an audience. His adventures, wisdom, and sense of humor brought joy to family and friends throughout the years. John is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Jean Lobsiger; his children, John N. (Pamela) Lobsiger and Diane G. (Darcy) Lobsiger-Braden; his stepchildren, Christina Ellis and Richard (Kelly) Ellis; his grandchildren, John E. (Lauren) Lobsiger, Nicole (Aaron) Noder, Andrew Lobsiger, Justin Lobsiger, Chandel (Thomas) Arnold and Smith Ellis; 12 beloved great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Donna Mae Lobsiger; and his children, Linda Lobsiger and Kurt Lobsiger. John’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the stories he shared, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family encourages everyone to honor John’s memory by gathering with loved ones, sharing a favorite story and embracing life’s adventures just as he did. A celebration of life service will be held 11: 00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. The Rev. William Hessler will officiate with inurnment in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to ACG Hospice or any mission program of your choice. Rest easy John.
