Mr. Robert L. Riedlinger

Riedlinger, Robert L., Essexville, Michigan Formerly of Saginaw Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and proud Marine passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, in Essexville, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on September 5, 1924, in Saginaw to the late Engelbert and Mary (Raschman) Riedlinger. He married Edwina Lois Schultz on June 5, 1948, a devoted marriage lasting 61 years. She predeceased him on October 27, 2009. Bob enlisted in the USMC during WWII and served in the Pacific Theatre, where he participated in air strikes against the enemy. Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed as a welding layoutman for Wickes Boiler and Combustion Engineering Company. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially his great-grandchildren. Surviving are his six sons and their families, Robert Riedlinger and Anne Gilhuly, Stanley, Idaho; Gary (Lyn) Riedlinger, Essexville, MI; Thomas (Shelly) Riedlinger, Saginaw, MI; David (Iona) Riedlinger, Tucson, AZ; Donald (Terry) Riedlinger, Saginaw, MI; Dale Riedlinger and Lonnie Kolmodin, Bay City, MI; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; whom he loved dearly; his sister, Marilyn Riedlinger, Saginaw. Bob was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Engelbert (Butch), Frederick, William Riedlinger and Irene Arnst. The Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. Gail Cracholila will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., then on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or VNA Hospice.
