Walter E. Cramer Sr.

Walter E. Cramer, Sr. Hemlock, Michigan Walter Cramer Sr., a devoted husband, dad, papa, brother and cherished friend went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at his home in Hemlock, Mi. at the age of 88 years. Walter Cramer Sr. was born November 1, 1935, in Kilmanah, Mi., son of the late Norman and Alvina (Wachner) Cramer. He married Margaret Pahl on March 28, 1980, she survives him. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by GM - Saginaw Metal Casting Operations (Grey Iron) following 43 years of service. He was a member of Saint Mark Lutheran Church, having served on its Board of Trustees and Elders. He was also a member of the Hemlock Lions Club, Board of Directors. He loved the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed his bird feeders and crafting his beautiful unique clocks and birdhouses. Being a volunteer and being an active part of his community was a passion of his. The sawdust days were a favorite! All of this gave him a lot of joy and he genuinely enjoyed life. Surviving besides his wife Peggy (Margaret) are, sisters Gloria Kaake of Decker Mi and Onalee Mueller of Bridgeport Mi. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Vernita Stevens, Charlotte Cramer, Norma Diefenbach, Laura Beckler, Daniel Cramer and Robert Cramer. Also surviving are four daughters and one son, Walter E. (Melissa) Cramer Jr., Lisa Brown, Lori (Brian) O’Farrell, all of Saginaw and Lee Ann Johnson of Tawas, Stacey (Will) Wistehuff of Rochester Hills. He had eight grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory, are many nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his kitty companion, Nikki. The Celebration of Walter’s Life will be held 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Road, (Shields), Saginaw, MI. Pastor Kirk Abatelli will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, where a funeral luncheon will be served. Walter will be laid to rest in Richland Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider a donation to Lions Club of Hemlock, Underground Railroad or Valley Lutheran High School.
