William (Bill) Bringer

WILLIAM JOHN BRINGER (BILL) Saginaw Twp., Michigan Bill passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at HealthSource Saginaw, at the age of 94 years. Bill was born on March 25, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late William and Catherine (Krieger) Bringer. Bill was married to Helen Cecelia (Covey) Bringer on April 29, 1950, at St. Matthews Church in Philadelphia, PA. Then after 46.5 years of marriage, Helen predeceased him on August 24, 1996. Bill is survived by his nine children and their spouses, Bill (Michele) Bringer, Mary Beth Lagalo, Theresa Lambkin, John (Laura) Bringer, Bob (Theresa) Bringer, Mike (Shirley) Bringer, Joe (Laura) Bringer, Kathy Moiles, Jim (Paris) Bringer; his sister, Mary Lou Walsh. At last count, Bill had 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great – great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Catherine Bringer; his wife, Helen Bringer; his sister Anna and his brother Richard; his grandsons, Joshua Bringer and Chad Lambkin; his son-in-law, Doug Moiles. Bill enlisted in the United States Navy on April 11, 1946. Having served during WWII and the Korean War, Seaman 2nd William Bringer was honorably discharged on April 11, 1953. He had served as a crew member in the U.S. Navy Air Force Reserves for 3.5 years as a flight engineer. Bill was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, where he was a commissioned Lay Minister; member of the Worship commission; a Lector and preached at Mass; also a past member of the St. Andrew School Board. Prior to his retirement, Bill was employed as a District Sales Manager for Diamond Crystal Salt Company for 17 years. Later on, folks would see Bill in Bringer Inn at the cash register or walking around and talking with the customers. Bill and Helen loved dancing to Big Band music. He enjoyed going to the Casino and especially spending time with his family. Bill was a well-known local handyman and his wife, Helen would always offer his services, “free of charge.” The Bringer family wishes to extend their gratitude to HealthSource Saginaw for their care given to Bill during his stay. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation will take place. The Bringer family is planning for a Memorial Gathering to be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Wakeman Funeral Home, 1218 N. Michigan Ave., in Saginaw. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a prayer service following. Bill will be laid to rest, next to his wife, in St. Andrew Cemetery, in Saginaw Twp., with full military honors conducted by the United States Navy, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting memorial contributions be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
