Edgar C. Duclos

Duke was called home to his Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center – Cooper. Age 95 years. He was born on December 21, 1913, in Saginaw, son of the late Richard J. and Sophie M. (Winterstein) Duclos. Duke attended Holy Cross Lutheran School and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940, serving during WWII as a Radarman 1st class. He was honorably discharged on November 9, 1945. Duke first married Carla Ross on July 9, 1940, in Saginaw, where she predeceased him on January 2, 2001. He then married Eunice (Tuney) Morgrette on November 3, 2002. She survives him. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a salesman at Typewriter Exchange for many years. Duke was a faithful member of Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, serving on many boards and committees, and was a choir member for over 60 years. He was a member of Germania Town and Country Club for over 50 years, life member of the Lutheran Layman’s League, the U.C.T., long-time board member at St. Luke’s Hospital, was a charter member of the Saginaw Jaycees, serving as its 2nd President, and charter member of Pitney-Bowes Million Dollar Club. He was an avid follower of the major railroad lines in the U.S. and was able to name all of the major steam locomotives. Surviving besides his wife, Tuney, is one niece, Jean Gesko; three nephews, James Riedel, and John and Jim Roberts; a special cousin, Roger (Pauline) Winterstein, Saginaw, and their daughters, Debra (Mark) Piotrowski and Cynthia (Andy) Pape; stepchildren John (Vickie) Morgrette, Saginaw; Jim (Cheri) Morgrette, and Ted (Julie) Morgrette, all of Saginaw; step-grandchildren, John, Michelle, Brandon, and Matthew Morgrette. He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Linda Riedel, Natalie Roberts, Elmer and Victor Duclos. The Celebration of Duke’s Life and committal services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, 600 Court St. The Reverends James Krueger and Joel Kaiser will officiate. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
