Maurice (Mo) F. Leyrer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Leyrer, Maurice F. (Mo), Bridgeport, Michigan Passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 80 years. Mo was born on June 29, 1933, in Saginaw, to the late O.R. and Bernice (Davy) Leyrer. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mo married Janette M. Barrett on June 6, 1953, and she predeceased him on September 13, 2000. Prior to his retirement, Mo was President, Owner and Operator of Leyrer Advertising, and Buggy Bath in Bridgeport. In 1974 he fulfilled a lifelong dream and obtain a private pilot’s license. He was a member of the Bridgeport Community Church, and the Yankee Air Force. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1953. Mo is survived by his children and their spouses, Karen Iliff, Portland, OR; Thomas Leyrer, Bradenton, FL; Staci (Don) Percy, Birch Run; six grandchildren, Kathleen and Kelly Leyrer, of Texas, Erika (Conan) Barratt Hines, New York, Tyler Barratt (Christian Riley), of Arizona, Anna Percy and Jackson Percy, Birch Run; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Willard (Rose) Leyrer, Gladwin, Allan Leyrer, Alpena, and Dean (Nancy) Leyrer, Mt. Pleasant; four sisters, Rhoda Leyrer Smith, Lansing, Joyce Peterson, West Branch, Patricia Hartnagle, Midland, Kay (John) Healy, St. Charles; and many nieces and nephews, and his partner for many years, Helen Bluys. Mo was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur Paquette Jr., Robert Leyrer Smith, Jack Leyrer, Leonard Paquette, and sisters, Carol Luedtke and Bonnie (Goodwin) Ostrander. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. The Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Thursday, January 2, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., then on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or Bridgeport Community Church.
