    Robert M. Halliday

    November 24, 1940 - May 13, 2010

    We lost our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and great friend on Wednesday, May 13, 2010. Robert Maurice Halliday (Doc), who went to be with his Lord, was born on November 24, 1940 in Saginaw. Bob was the son to the late William J. and Susie B. (Ware) Halliday. He married the love of his life, Beth Delaney, on December 10, 1984, she survives him. He leaves behind a daughter, Renee (David) Hirsh; son, Christopher (Catherine) Halliday; grandsons, Ben Hirsh and Aidan Halliday; granddaughter, Alexa Hirsh. Bob is also survived by his siblings, Bill (Linda) Halliday; Patricia (James) Gronski, Tom (Debbie) Halliday. He has many nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from Saginaw High School in 1958, where he played football, basketball and baseball. Bob received honors in Football – 1st Team All-Valley and 1st Team Class A All-State. He went on to receive a scholarship to the University of Wyoming, where he played middle linebacker and kicker. Bob was coached by Bob DeVaney and was co-captain of the team. He also played baseball for years with the local Helfrecht Machines Knothole Team, which captured numerous state titles. Bob retired from GM Malleable Iron in 2007 as a maintenance supervisor with 42 years of service. The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses on the 7th Floor-South at Saint Mary’s of Michigan, for all of their loving care and support, especially to Bernard Delaney; also to Bob’s closest family and friends, who gave him support and friendship over the years, The Mark Williams Family; devoted friend, Gene Rykowski and Family; Tracie Doneth, and his niece, Heather Halliday Steverson. Bob was a member of the Eagles Aerie #497 Club of Shields. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and watching all sports. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations of support may be directed to Bob’s loving and devoted wife, Beth.
