    Miss Ruth M. Wondrasch

    August 9, 1935 - July 30, 2014

    Wondrasch, Ruth M., Saginaw, Michigan Ruth Marie Wondrasch was called to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 78 years. Ruth was born on August 9, 1935, to the late Gustave and Marie (Mueller) Wondrasch in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Following her baptism on September 1, 1935, she received the nurture of Christian parents who later enrolled her at St. John’s Lutheran School in Wykoff, Minnesota. She was confirmed on May 16, 1948. The Bible verse selected for the occasion was 1 John 5:4, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the Victory that overcomes the world, our Father.” Following confirmation, she attended Wykoff High School, graduating in 1952. In the fall of that year she enrolled at Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois. Her degrees include a Bachelor of Arts and the Master of Arts in the field of education. In the past 50 years, Miss Wondrasch taught at Trinity Lutheran School, Waconia, Minnesota; Gethsemane in Chalmette, Louisiana; St. James, Chicago, Illinois; Grace Lutheran School in Auburn, Michigan; and at Holy Cross Lutheran School in Saginaw for 30 years. In addition to fulfilling her ambition of teaching in a Christian school, she had served as Saginaw Zone President, Michigan District Christian Growth League, Holy Cross Ladies’ Guild and on the Board of Directors of Lutheran Child and Family Service. She was treasurer of the Saginaw Valley Chapter of The American Guild of Organists. She had also served in various conference positions for the Church at large. Ruth is survived by her sister, Lorena Arnold; also several nieces, nephews, including Wanda Ciesla, Joann Hagen and Fred Hagen; many dear Holy Cross friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Alice, Melvina and Adeline. The Celebration of Ruth’s Christian Life will take place 12:00 Noon Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, 600 Court St., Saginaw. The Rev. James F. Krueger will officiate. Her entombment will follow in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church and School.
