Morden, Mr. Scott R., of Saginaw, Michigan was called home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Age 43 years. Scott was born on March 10, 1967, in Saginaw. He was married to Karen Walleman on June 17, 2000, in Saginaw. She survives him. He had served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm. He was employed at Boys and Girls Club-Merrill Park Unit and Swanhaven Manor. Scott was a faithful member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, its senior choir, bell choir, technology committee, Holy Cross School Board, wedding coordinator, and its computer technician, and the VFW Post 1859 Carrollton-Zilwaukee. He also volunteered at Leadership Saginaw. He was enrolled at Northwood University working toward his Bachelor's Degree. Surviving besides his wife, Karen, are his parents, Norman and Gisela Shankel, Saginaw; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James A. and Peggy J. Walleman, Vassar; brother, Daniel (Nancy) Shankel, Saginaw; sister, Kristina Shankel, Saginaw; grandmother, Gisela Spiridonow, E. Tawas; one brother-in-law, Nick (April) Walleman, Silverwood; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a niece. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court St. The Rev. James F. Krueger will officiate with burial in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, where military honor guard will be conducted under the auspices of VFW Post 1859 Carrollton-Zilwaukee. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where the VFW will perform a tribute salute at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
