October 18, 1925 - May 9, 2015
CALL, THOMAS ROBERT SR. Thomas R. Call, Sr. passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Anna and Frank Call in Saginaw. Tom was a devoted husband to his wife of 70+ years, Nell Jean. He was a caring and hardworking father of three boys: Thomas (Susie), Lanny (Bonnie), and Joseph (Chris) of Saginaw. Thomas served in the Infantry during the Battle of the Bulge and was highly decorated. He was one of six brothers serving in World War II at the same time. He was a devout Roman Catholic whose faith was his number one priority. Tom was a high school athlete who loved sports; and was an announcer for St. Peter’s and Paul High School for many years. He was a Hotelier and a Court Officer for the 70th District Court, Saginaw County, until his retirement. He was a physical fitness guru all his life. Tom was a very well-known and respected man who made many friends wherever he went. Meijer employees would call out to him by name as he shopped because of his likability and cheerful nature. Tom was predeceased by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and his beloved, furry guardian Harley. Thomas leaves behind his wife, sons, many grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, one brother and sister, and his daily caregivers who dearly miss him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Saginaw County Humane Society. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, Saginaw on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. "Though earthly life be done; his spirit soothes our weeping hearts."
